SW 820 — Thread sealant for metal fittings

Professional alternative to PTFE tape and hemp for pneumatic lines and threaded fittings.

General description:

SW 820 is an anaerobic paste sealant specifically designed for use on metal threaded fittings in the presence of gases, CFCs, oils, fuels, brake fluids and compressed air.

It is the ideal replacement for PTFE tape and hemp, thanks to its penetration capacity and durable sealing.

Once polymerised, it forms a tough film resistant to vibration, shock and thermal excursions.

The product has a low coefficient of friction to ease assembly and a thixotropic structure that prevents run-off during curing.

SW 820 is recommended by Faiveley Transport for use on railway rolling stock and is compliant with Trenitalia category 006 251.

SW 820 is ideal for sealing metal threaded fittings, in particular:

  • Pneumatic lines on railway vehicles

  • Systems subject to vibration, shock and temperature variations

  • Fittings exposed to technical liquids, fuels, oils and refrigerants

Do not apply to plastics or painted surfaces without prior assessment. For use on non-metallic materials, contact BBTS technical support.

Thoroughly clean the surfaces with a suitable cleaner.

Apply a sufficient amount of SW 820 until the joint is completely filled. Assemble normally and wait for polymerisation (1–3 hours for functional strength, 24–36 hours for complete).

To facilitate disassembly, heat the joint to 150–250°C.

Remove polymerised residues mechanically and finish with acetone.
